Alice Learn About Departure

After we tried out the other skills, we also figured and confirmed Edilua’s and Hedera’s skills as well.

By the time we finally made our way to the city of Riade, it was already morning.

We all flew over the forest and walked across the grasslands from there, heading towards the northeast.

Since we are advancing based on the sun’s position, it may not be exactly northeast, but since we are not in a hurry, I don’t really care.

As expected, it doesn’t feel like a vampire at all, even if I was bathed in the sunlight, I didn’t turn to dust and disappear, I even feel that the morning sun is refreshing. But, it’s not like that I want to turn to dust in the sunlight, so that’s fine.

It’s the same for Hedera as well, looking up at the blue sky and smiling as she said, ⌈It’s a nice day⌋

「Speaking of which, why are there no animals around here at all? 」

All of a sudden, Hedera mentioned such a question.

It was something that had been bothering me since I was in that forest.

I was sure it was because they would get exploded or blown up, however, the true reason remained unknown.

I thought that Edilua might know something about it, and apparently I was right.

「Ah, that’s because of the evil energy that leaked out of my seal in the Forest of Death, which no mere animal, not even a high ranking demon, can approach. You see, the one that Alice said was a disgusting discomfort」

「Ah, So that’s it」

So there were no animals in the forest because of that discomfort. That makes sense.

No one wants to live in a place that makes them feel bad.

That means the reason there were no animals in the forest was because of Edilua, and not because of the forest suddenly being exploded or blown up.

No, it might have been because of that as well.

「So that was it. As expected of you, Edilua-sama the Black Death Ruin Dragon」

I don’t know what’s so amazing about the situation, but Hedera looks impressed with such a thing.

「I thought it was because of the sudden explosion and the forest being blown up」.

「…. Didn’t Alice the one who cause that to happen? Except for the fact that I was sealed inside. It’s just an ordinary forest, right? 」

Eh …. Really?

So it was really my screaming that caused it, huh?

But screaming and blowing away the forest is not mentioned anywhere in the status.

The answer is …..

This world is full of mysteries.

「Oh, come to think of it, I’m not getting hungry」.

「Isn’t it because you’re a true ancestor? Since we are able to maintain our life activities by absorbing magical elements from the air. Although we have a digestive system, we don’t need to get our nutrition from food like humans do.」

「Heh, but I want to eat good food. Let’s have something to eat when we go to town」

「I haven’t eaten anything in about 3000 years either. I wonder if black orcs are still around today? It’s delicious when you roast it a whole」

「What is black Orc? 」

「A big, black, humanoid demon.」

「Demons can be eaten. ….. By the way, I wonder why you have knowledge about it, Hedera? Is it something you were born with? 」

「The knowledge I have seems to be built based on Alice-sama’s. Unfortunately, I only know a few things about Alice-sama’s previous life and memories, but I have all the basic common sense and knowledge that Alice-sama has」.

「My common sense…. It doesn’t make much sense in this world」.

We continue walking through the grasslands as far as we can see, and by the time the sun climbs directly overhead on the second day, we can see the long, high mountains that cross our view in the distance.

Actually, all three of us don’t need sleep.

I had always imagined that vampires slept in coffins during the day, but apparently not.

Edilua was said to have slept every hundred years or so because she had free time while she was sealed, but her usual sleep was more like a hobby.

Since the three of us are like that, we can go on a two-day walk through the night without a break.

We walked without a break and didn’t get tired at all, which felt good to me, who was not athletic in my previous life.

After the third day of walking, when the sky is turning a light shade of red, we finally arrive at the bottom of the mountain range.

At the bottom of the mountain range is a dense forest, where no animals seem to live.

We sprouted wings and flew lightly over those forests to the mountain peak in a single go.

The mountain has many steep cliffs with high elevation.

As we approached the top of the mountain, the vegetation decreased and the ground became full of reddish-brown rock surfaces.

There are rocky areas with melted snow piled up here and there.

We landed at the top of the mountain range with its steep, rocky ridges and then looked down at the surrounding landscape.

It was a beautiful landscape that made us sigh.

To our right, on the far side of our vision, there was the sea reflecting the red sun, and to our left, the mountains stretching out from this mountain range, with a large forest and river at the bottom of it, and a large group of buildings surrounded by a wall between them.

That must be the city called Riade.

The city is surrounded by open grasslands and sparse forests.

As if cutting through them, dirt roads extended from the city to all directions and here and there buildings could be seen smoking from their chimneys.

I can see here and there what appears to be animals, carriages and even people on the dirt roads, thanks to True Ancestor’s demon eyes.

Moreover, the sun that had just begun to sink into the sea had turned all of them into a vivid red.

「…. Woah, it’s so beautiful!」

「Yeah, it is a beautiful view」.

「yup…. I wish I had a camera」

We were mesmerized by the sight.

Why does the view from high places attract people so much?

Seeing it with the sunset is simply spectacular.

How many people will be able to see this beautiful view?

Now I understood a little bit about the feelings of those who risked their lives to climb the mountain.

This view after walking up the mountain must be more wonderful than any other moment in time.

We watched the scene in silence until the sun had sunk below the sea and darkness covered the ground.

A world where magic can be used and a race of people we’ve never heard of.

A self that has become a vampire.

An eccentric friend, a Black Death Ruin Dragon and a True Ancestor’s Maid.

Everything was different in this new life, but there was definitely something in common.

It is such a wonderful thing to be able to see something beautiful, and to have the time to share it with someone else.

I was born in this world again. Amend, it was the first time for me.
